Although the build-up towards the 2021 Australian Open is quite unusual, with all of the players in the quarantine to ensure that there will be no positive cases during the tournament, the first Grand Slam of 2021 was similar to last year's.

In men's tournament, Novak Djokovic showed another dominant performance to walk towards his 9th title at the Australian Open when he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final. In women's tournament, Naomi Osaka became the first player since 2012 to win her 4th Grand Slam title when she defeated Jennifer Brady in the final.

This year sees another debacle relating to vaccination as players have to be at least double jabbed to play in Australia. Many of the top names are set including Rafael Nadal, Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka and Emma Raducanu.

But for Novak Djokovic question marks still remain as he has still not fully committed to the tournament, while for the likes of Bianca Andreescu and Serena Williams - they have withdrawn for other reasons.
